Take the Castle Tour

The Castle itself is open for Tours from May:
Thurs – Saturday at 11am, 12.30pm, 2pm
NO SUNDAY TOURS except during Heritage Week.

Tours are 45 mins.

Castle Tours (includes entry to gardens):
€16 Adult
€8 child (children over 10 years only).

You can book all tickets online, or they are available in courtyard reception. We highly recommend pre-booking for Castle Tours as numbers are limited.

Season Tickets

There are lots of things to see and do at Tullynally. The parkland with its magnificent trees is open to walkers and dogs on leads throughout the year. Our beautiful woodland and walled gardens, covering over 12 acres, are open from April to September and there are concerts in the castle itself and many other events in the gardens and castle all through the year.

What’s included:
As many visits as you like during our normal opening hours (11am – 5pm, Thursday to Sunday from April to September. Also bank holidays & daily in Heritage Week) and a chance to enjoy the gardens through the changing seasons.

You will also enjoy a 50% discount on garden guided walks. Dogs can be admitted on leads, and children under five are admitted free with the Season ticket holder. Other adults and children will be charged at the normal rate. Please note that the Season ticket is not transferable and that holders must show it in the tearoom before entering the gardens.

International Visitors

Like to leave the beaten track? Tullynally is centrally located in the ancient kingdom of Midhe, an area rich with myth and history.. It makes a perfect stopover on your way to the West coast or Dublin.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to pre-book tickets to visit Tullynally?

No, pre-booking is not a requirement. However it is advisable for our busiest times, Sundays & Bank Holidays

May I bring my dog to Tullynally gardens?

Dogs are welcome on leads only.

May I picnic in the gardens?

We are sorry but no picnics are allowed in the gardens; we recommend our excellent Tearooms. Please note there are no litter bins in the gardens.

How long will it take to visit the whole garden?

A walk to all parts of the gardens will take 1.5 hours, at a reasonable pace. There are places to sit and rest along the routes.

What time is last entry?

Tickets can be purchased up until 5pm in the courtyard, but please vacate the gardens by 6pm when the gates will be closed.

What is there for children to do?

There is a climbing frame for children and an exciting Discovery Trail to follow

What is there for me to see?

You can enjoy a self-guided tour of our extensive gardens. Tree enthusiasts may follow Thomas Pakenham’s Tree Trail of his favourite trees.

Is the garden suitable for wheelchairs/buggies?

The Pleasure Ground, the Grotto Glade, the Walled Garden and the Flower Garden have gravel paths suitable for most wheeled users. The Forest Walk is mainly a grass path and may not be suitable.

Are there Castle Tours available?

We offer Castle Tours from May on Thursdays, Fridays & Saturdays and Heritage week, at 11, 12.30, 2pm; 45 mins duration. Unfortunately the historic rooms are not accessible by wheelchair users unless previously advised, and we advise pre-booking as numbers are limited. No children under ten.

When are the Tearooms open?

The Tearooms have the same opening times as the Gardens, 11-5 Thurs- Sunday. The Tearooms can be contacted directly with any queries on tearoomstullynally@gmail.com

Are there toilets in the gardens?

There are toilet facilities in the Castle Courtyard but not in the gardens themselves.

May I use my drone?

We do not allow drone photography because of privacy and wildlife issues.

Do you have a gift shop?

The Tearoom sells books by the Pakenham family and others, Tullynally branded mugs and a range of souvenirs.

Is photography allowed?

We welcome photography and videography of the gardens and hope you will share your memories of your visit with us. However, there is no photography or videography allowed inside the Castle.
